These cards would have unique username/passwords printed on them for assisting these (authorized) individuals with logon. The advantages are obvious. E.g., If they end up in an ER, they can hand the MD the card to gain access to critical medical history, emergency contacts, PCP contact info, etc.Jon Shankmanhttp://amchealth.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7641884.post-6956965404789038832009-11-23T18:08:55.044-05:002009-11-23T18:08:55.044-05:00Thanks for sharing this, Bob. The only upside to the EMR is that you can actually read it without being a handwriting interpreter. I seem to remember from volunteering at a hospital many years ago before the advent of EMRs that many people who entered information into medical records had atrocious handwriting. (Not just the doctors, but many others too.) This example's not too bad; I can actually read it and figure out what happened in that encounter.medrecgalnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7641884.post-88562971434357237052009-11-20T20:01:26.099-05:002009-11-20T20:01:26.099-05:00Why does the date appear to be 1984?Why does the date appear to be 1984?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7641884.post-31444234352602096812009-11-20T14:19:53.105-05:002009-11-20T14:19:53.105-05:00This actually doesn't look much different from...This actually doesn't look much different from most of the records that I review from Primary Care Physicians on a daily basis today.
