Yours interested me greatly, and started my mind spinning with ideas!!<br /><br />With any discussion of personal health records, there is an inherent role of "information", and I think the underutilized health care professional in the discussion of the PHR topic is the medical librarian. There is a lot that librarians can bring to the discussion!! We've been dealing with privacy concerns, and managing information for eons. Also, with the merging of professional, lab, and consumer information, resources from the already-existing literature might be of use and librarians would be the ones to know about them. I am thinking specifically of the integration of Medlineplus with PHRs, which should be a "given". <br /><br />The Medical Library Association just concluded a task force on Electronic Health Records and it was reported on in the May 2009 meeting. <br /><br />There were so many exciting, and thought-provoking discussions at the hearing.
